A public vigil is planned for Tuesday evening at the MN Power Plaza at the intersection of Lake Ave and Superior St W in Downtown Duluth, MN at 5:30 PM.
The vigil is called in support of the US Constitution and the specific Articles of Impeachment against Donald John Trump that have sent by the House Judiciary committee for a full House vote that is scheduled for Wednesday. The hope is that this action, and at least two others happening in Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District, will combine with constituents calls to Representative Pete Stauber’s office in number, strength and persuasiveness to result in Stauber voting for impeachment.
This event was initially planned for a location at or near Pete Stauber’s Congressional Office in Hermantown, but concerns about safety, accessibility and visibility resulted in a change of venue to downtown Duluth.
Coordinated through the “Nobody is Above the Law” website, the RSVP list currently numbers near 60 planned event participants, and the number of participants is expected to increase today and tomorrow.
Any updates about the planned vigil will be posted here and updated on the “Nobody is Above the Law” website. Attendees who have RSVPed and shared their e-mail with the events hosts will hear about any changes and last minute prep suggestions that may be required by weather, etc.
Currently the weather forecast suggests that at 5:30 PM the plaza will be dark and windchills may be -5 to -10 below. We encourage participants to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring a flashlight, lightstick, etc and event organizers will have some to distribute. The Impeach.org website has suggestions and instructions for creating illuminated signage.
On street parking should be free at this time and there are nearby parking structures. Public transit to this location is also an option.
