On Friday, July 20th, 2018 Minnesota Public Radio created a broadcast radio show featuring four of the five candidates for the DFL Primary election in a debate on the statewide network of MPRnews radio stations. For reasons that are not clear, MPRNews’s Mike Mulcahy did not invite Soren Sorensen to appear in the debate.
Soren Sorensen has qualified for the ballot. Soren is a well known DFL party officer and activist, who has registered campaign committee, is raising and spending money on an active campaign, and has knocked more doors than any other candidate in the race. Soren only became a candidate for this seat on June 5th, 2018, the final day of candidate filings in Minnesota, and has matched or outpaced several of the other candidates in fundraising from individual donors other than the candidates themselves.
Today, Soren Sorensen will be filing a complaint and a request for equal opportunity with the FCC.
Please “stay tuned” for further developments in this story!
Update: I just had a very edifying conversation with the FCC’s Gary Schonman, and am following his advice.
(Disclosure: Soren Sorensen is also a long time media activist and member of the DailyKos community, posting as ImpeccableLiberalCredentials)
